Mission statement

Heads Up works with individuals affected by mental health issues and other difficulties, in order to help them towards recovery, increased independence and/or greater well-being and quality of life.

We provide a range of services, facilities and opportunities delivered by professionals and peers, on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting. Through helping people to help themselves and others we will work together to ensure that people with a mental health issue are accepting and accepted, so that positive mental health and well-being becomes a way of life in Somerset.

  • To provide support to enable individuals to establish links to mainstream opportunities within their local community in line with agreed outcomes identified in the referral and recovery care plan.
  • To provide learning and development opportunities, for individuals to recover their well-being and participate in their local communities to their fullest potential.
  • To actively promote greater participation and involvement by people who use the service in the planning and running of the service.
  • To promote opportunities provided by volunteering, formal learning and employment.
  • To promote social inclusion.
  • To promote a broad range of social, educational, employment and life options.
  • To contribute to promotion of independence.To agree a personal development plan, which reflects the outcome focused referral, for each individual using the service.
  • To enable access to everyday community services where possible and support individuals to move on within and from the service.
  • To ensure that all those supporting individuals within the service understand their personal aims and objectives.
